Woody Lane at Jackson Bridge
Hmmmm - never plan your route using Google maps alone! When you walk up hill and down dale, it adds a serious amount of effort to your journey. Why didn’t I pay attention in Geography class???
5 hours later, a weary me got home desperate for a cup of tea
Walk 14 - the incredible journey

Unfinished Business

Lucky Heather
A small matter of the completion of Walk 1!
Seeing as it’s Friday, me and guest walker #2 (AKA Steve M Nash), decided to stomp from Holme (pub starting point) up to Digley as an addition to walk 1 (extra bit marked in blue on the full page map)

Today we have a guest Walker!
So of course we have to start and finish at a pub!

Start and Finish Point
After looking at the route several times, we decided that the Gray Ox at Hartshead was the best pub en route and of we went (walk 6 officially starts at Cooper bridge and the Three Nuns, so will cover that bit on the full map page!)
Check out the local history on this one!

…Are Free for a Reason!
Mine has broken after only two walks. It reset itself to zero constantly on the last walk, but I can’t complain as it was FREE! Still - it gives me a good excuse to do a pedometer review eh? - I’ll have to count in my head until a new one arrives!

(and the never ending walk around Bradley Golf Club)
The Pagemaster ipod This Kirklees Way Jaunt is getting more like an adventure from raiders of the lost ark by the day! mud slides, mysterious woods, brambles, head height nettles, stony pathways, wayward golf balls and very little signage to help you on your way (yes I got lost!).

Weather Permitting!
I actually did this route backwards as I wanted to go to Asda on Bradford Road to pick up the standard bananas, Oat Cakes and bottle of water! I have also realised that I probably need to think about making these routes circular, otherwise they all end up being 20,000 steps!!

The first 10,000 steps…

Our Starting Point
I got my boots, charged my mobile phone and my camera battery, put on my pedometer, stopped at Tescos to pick up bananas before driving to the beginning part of ‘walk 1′.
For some reason I decided is going to be the walk from the A635 at Wessenden Moor to Marsden across the Pennines - don’t ask me why!

After spending the weekend making up informational pages and thinking about what people may be interested in, we have a fully fledged Kirklees Way website including the Kirklees Way Map, outdoor clothing, walking equipment, local shops, and pedometer ratings

After spending Friday lunchtime in Waterstones looking at their 3 for 2 map deal. I purchased the maps I would need to start planning my route around the Kirklees Way.
I found the 3 maps I needed (sadly it is not all on one map!), and set about using the satellite view in Google to trace the path onto my map. Until I walk the way, this will be a little rough as it is not easy to see which are the paths and which are peoples gardens
